INHALTSANGABE & DETAILS : Arborville liegt mitten in der amerikanischen Provinz, in der normalerweise überhaupt nichts los ist. Deswegen können sich die Jugendlichen ganz auf ihre Vorlieben konzentrieren. Kevin und Eddie schleichen sich gerne heimlich ins Kino, während die älteren Paul und Scott schon einen Schritt weiter und vor allem hinter Mädchen her sind. Brian liebt sein Motorrad über alles, mit dem er gerne auf den Straßen der ländlichen Gegend unterwegs ist. Aber dann ändert sich das beschauliche Leben in dem kleinen Kaff, denn in der Nacht kommt eine Lebensform aus dem All unvermitelt in der Nähe von Arborville auf die Erde. Das schleimige Etwas aus dem Raumschiff erweist sich als Bedrohung für die Bewohner des kleinen Städtchens, denn es verschlingt alles, was sich ihm in den Weg stellt. Das erste Opfer des „Blobs“ ist ein Landstreicher, den Paul, Meg und Brian ins Krankenhaus bringen, bevor der Kampf gegen den Blob richtig beginnt.
